Current Enquiry
I am currently building on the foundation of a previous research and development enquiry which approached lived experiences of male intimacy, addiction, HIV and care.
The research produced two performative outcomes.
With the potential to be a vehicle for bringing difficult subjects into discussion, U is a process for discovering how to speak about what we cannot see.
The research draws on improvisation, film, installation-making and deep reflection to allow the right images to surface.
How do we present emotional landscapes?
How can I make visible what’s inside my body - what lives in my blood, my nervous system, my mind and memories?
Inside Out was a project which enabled me to return to my access needs and artistic practice after a decade of making and researching.
It explored how mental health access, addiction recovery, hidden disabilities and neurodiversity not only shape the studio environment but also drive the creative content, process and performance.
The project re-evaluated established practices, enabling me to make new artistic shifts and decisions through collaboration.
This research deepened my understanding of my own practice and posed the wider question: How do multiple needs meet within process?
