Rockbottom

Performed between 2016-2019, Rockbottom was a touring solo show approaching mental health and chemsex.

An honest and reflective work which used performance as a springboard for having conversations with communities and audiences around the UK.

This project began my evolving practice around how to take risks safely inside autobiographical work and how to centre care for myself, collaborators, teams, participants and audiences.

Audio Described Trailer

  • “A painfully revealing, highly physical look at mental health and that sometimes elusive thing called happiness, in which (Stuart) is, by turns, vulnerable, camp, ravenous, sensitive, intense, ecstatic, unhinged and, eventually, redeemed. Impressively, he takes us with him every step of the way.”

    Donald Hutera (Dance Critic)

  • “Inarguably, this is one brave performance. Waters deserves huge respect for his remarkable commitment to honesty…”

    The Guardian

  • “Rockbottom is essentially an incredibly humane piece of work.”
